ABOUT
Lactation Connection NWA is owned by Allison Scott, DNP, APRN, IBCLC.  Allison has 33 years experience as a certified lactation consulant and is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, who practiced 28 years in NWA. She was the first certified LC in the state of Arkansas.

Allison became interested in lactation while working in a newborn nursery as a RN early in her career. She knew she had to greatly expand her knowledge and ability to help mothers breastfeed because a gap existed among the infant and mother's healthcare providers. Becoming a lactation consultant has allowed her to have a huge impact on both babies and mother's health.

She is the mother of two adult daughters and grandmother to two adorable grandchildren.

LC NWA began in June, 2023 after Allison retired from primary care. She continues to teach graduate nursing students at the University of Arkansas.
Allison has published many articles on breastfeeding, including research studies. She speaks nationally on her research and breastfeeding education for providers. She oversees Tiny Tusks Infant & Breastfeeding Support through the University of Arkansas, a grant-funded student-led organization at selected athletic events.

LC NWA exists to provide breastfeeding parents in-home lactation service with follow-up phone consultation or phone consulation alone. Telehealth (video) lactation services are also available for specific problems not dependent on an infant oral assessment.

Lactation CONSULTING

Lactation Consulting for new & experienced moms: get personalized advice & guidance to ease the breastfeeding journey. #BreastfeedingSuccess *First Time In-Home Visit: 60 to 90 minutes. $125 *$25 extra charge if greater than 20 miles travel required (from SW Springdale) Includes: *Maternal-infant health history, birth and prior breastfeeding experience *Assessment of your specific goals for breastfeeding *Maternal breast assessment and infant physical assessment, including oral-motor *Pre and post feeding weight *Feeding observation, assessment and assistance, including milk expression (if desired) *Personalized breastfeeding plan *Report to primary care provider *with permission from client *Follow-up phone consultation within 3 days of visit *Follow -up visits may be scheduled at a rate of $60 per visit after the initial visit

Phone or Video Consultation

Phone Consultation: Triage of a particular issue- 15 min or less: $25 Triage of multiple issues - greater than 15 minutes: $40 Video consultation: 60 minutes or less: $75 *Includes same services as in-home EXCEPT complete infant oral assessment. *Please discuss needs with Allison prior to making video consult appt. Not all situations can be adequately assessed & managed.

Do you accept Insurance?

I do not  accept insurance payment but will provide you with a superbill to submit to insurance or your HSA. Payment can be made via Zelle, check or cash.  Lactation consultation IS covered by most insurance companies 

Why should I choose you as my lactation consultant?

My lactation expertise spans 34 years.  I established Washington Regional Medical Center's initial lactation program and worked at a hospital lactation consultant for over 3 years. For the past 28 years, I worked at Northwest Pediatrics as their lactation consultant and Nurse Practitioner.  I have helped thousands of mothers breastfeed and have continued certification through continuing education or exam certification every 5 years. I have conducted research on breastfeeding education and cultural feeding issues. I have published numerous articles on breastfeeding, including contributions to the current National Association of Nurse Practitioners Breastfeeding Statement.  
Aside from the above, the primary reason to choose LactationConnectionNWA is my passion for breastfeeding and understanding that all breastfeeding mothers deserve compassionate, evidence-based care and support.
